Dear North Packaging
Dear North is a brand that Ammunition was tasked to create for the Huna Totem Corporation, a Native Alaskan tribal enterprise. The goal was to create a range of Dear North products that could be manufactured by tribal members and marketed to customers in the lower 48.
The first products to be developed was a range of Salmon products caught by and processed by tribal members.
The smoked salmon in oil had to be packaged in specific 8oz ball jars, because the members who were processing the fish were doing so using traditional methods and in small quantities, they needed to be able to buy jars from their local general store. This provided an interesting structural challenge, how to create an attractive brand layer for a ball jar that was easy to apply without the need for specialized labeling equipment. The final solution was a beautiful foil stamped uncoated sleeve that could be wrapped around the jars snuggly and then sealed.
The jerky bites were packaged in flexible film gusset pouches to maintain freshness and packaged in a central facility, however to maintain the homemade aesthetic the final solution utilizes pre-applied label stock instead of directly printing the pouches.
